WHAT WE PROVIDE
The Council provides information, education, advocacy and prevention services as well as referrals to treatment for problem gambling to those afflicted, their loved ones and the community.
Presentations that identify the signs and symptoms of problem gambling and its repercussions for gamblers and those whose lives are impacted by their choices and behavior.
Trainings designed to educate the public about problem gambling are offered to audiences representing legal, educational, social services, public safety and religious communities. Professional trainings for credentialing are also available.
In conjunction with licensees and other addiction professionals, we seek to prevent problem gambling behavior and arrest the cycle of addiction. Special presentations are available to help employers in assisting with gambling problems in the workplace. Prevention presentations are available for adolescent, college, senior and criminal justice populations.
HOW WE CAN HELP
The Council offers intervention services, treatment referrals and research to help those and their loved ones afflicted by problem gambling.
Acting on referrals or helpline calls, we can initiate a meeting with the problem gambler with the goal of steering the individual toward treatment of the problem. Additionally, we can assist those affected by the gambler with understanding and provide information to minimize the gambler’s impact on their lives.
The Council will initiate the treatment process with referrals to self-help groups, addiction professionals and licensed treatment providers to offer clinical and supportive services to gamblers and their families.
The Council will work with research professionals as they strive to learn more about problem gambling, its causes and effects and to develop the most effective treatment.
